Hosting is a wonderful way to earn supplemental income and cover many of life’s expenses, especially around destination events. But before you list your home for guests, make sure you can do so within your local laws. Visit your local government website and search “short-term rentals”.

STEP 2: HOST GREAT GUESTS!

We love that guests stay in short-term rentals while they’re in town for a big event! But while they’re in your property, they’re neighbors, not festivalgoers.

Many local jurisdictions provide Good Neighbor Brochures to help communicate important information to your guests. These include local noise ordinances, occupancy limits, and other policies to help them maintain peaceful enjoyment of our neighborhoods – and avoid penalties that could ruin their stay.

Search “short-term rentals” on your local government website to find yours, or download our workbook to create your own. We recommend sharing this information prior to arrival and displaying it prominently in your property(s).
