ORDINANCE STATUS: IN EFFECT

Aspen requires short-term rentals to obtain an STR permit, hold a business license, and pay all applicable sales and lodging taxes.

Aspen, CO Lodging Taxes

The City of Aspen is a self-collecting entity, meaning it requires vendors to remit taxes directly to the City rather than through the another entity (such as the Department of Revenue at the State level). In the November 2022 election, City of Aspen voters approved new sales and lodging taxes for business done within City limits.
