Rent Responsibly is a community building and education platform for local short-term and vacation rental alliances. Our tools and alliance management services equip local leaders to build successful, self-sustaining organizations of owners, hosts, property managers, and all other stakeholders. We make it easy for leaders and members to connect, collaborate, solve common challenges, advocate for themselves, steward their communities, and rent responsibly.

The Project Manager will play a central role in the effectiveness and ultimate success of Rent Responsibly. With a sharp focus on project logistics and events (primarily virtual events) and keeping trains on tracks, so to speak, you will own the forward momentum and effective, efficient execution of cross-department projects.

The Project Manager will report to the COO. This position is full-time and remote (US-based) and will start in November/December 2021.

Primary Duties:

  • Manage the logistics of Rent Responsibly national and local alliance events (primarily virtual), and conference participation in coordination with other Rent Responsibly staff
  • Coordinate deliverables to and from event and project partners
  • Manage the logistics of special projects, such as a national annual survey and report; conferences and team retreats; and partner initiatives
  • For all events and projects, participate in or own the execution of some action items
  • Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers for events and projects
  • Identify new tools and processes to make events and projects more successful and efficient

Secondary Duties:

  • Manage ordering and distribution of swag and physical marketing assets
  • Support the implementation of new event management tools and software

Qualities and Qualifications:

  • You are deeply experienced in project management. You can take a big desired outcome and break it into the steps needed to achieve it and build an effective timeline accordingly.
  • You have supreme attention to detail, and you think two and three steps ahead with strategy and tact. You can spot a project timeline getting off track a mile away, and you know how to adjust on the fly to get things back on course.
  • You’re a natural problem solver. You like and have experience with looking at data to find solutions and identify patterns, and you love a good win-win.
  • When Plan A doesn’t work, you’re ready with Plans B, C, and D.
  • You love planning and executing events. Fundraisers, happy hours, parties, and workshops – if it’s an event, you’re there with a clipboard and a headset.
  • You’re fluent in virtual events, especially in overcoming Zoom fatigue to make them engaging and sticky.
  • You’re comfortable working with startups and small, fast-moving teams. You’re not shy about stepping into a role that is new to our team, and you’re excited about building the role as we go.
  • Your communication is impeccable, and you’re well versed in holding others to deadlines in a friendly and supportive but firm way.
  • You’re tech savvy, but you’re comfortable working and supporting those who are not.
  • You don’t shy away from making processes more efficient or creating new processes from scratch when needed.
  • You love marking things off your to-do list. Everything checked off your list meets your high standards of quality, but you don’t let perfection get in the way of a deadline.
  • You are adept at managing your time. You can juggle projects and shuffle priorities flexibly. You are versed in saying “Yes, but” or “No, but” to new requests.
  • If you’ve ever taken a DISC assessment, you probably score higher in the S and C qualities.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience in advocacy or association chapter management
  • Social media management and curation experience
  • Graphic design experience

What It’s Like to Work for Rent Responsibly

Rent Responsibly is a 100% remote team. We collaborate daily through Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, and Airtable. We don’t measure our days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. but through productivity and execution. Our teammates must be self directed and have (or be able to create) the ideal remote work environment for themselves.

We are a small but nimble and enthusiastic team, so those who are willing to jump in with both feet on team projects, wear multiple hats, and then switch those hats on the fly will be happiest here. We invest in our teammates’ growth, too, including professional development resources, ample opportunities to take on higher roles as the company grows, and space to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors.

This is us! We are great at hiring women, we are not so great at taking a jump photo, and we are actively working on hiring more diversely. (And our jump shot.)

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with skills and experience
  • Paid holidays
  • Unlimited vacation + first Friday of each month off
  • Work from anywhere
  • Travel to fun destinations and conferences
  • Flex Fridays: No internal meetings on Fridays so you can spend your day getting sh*t done any way you like.
  • Flex Weeks: Select weeks throughout the year dedicated to tackling the important stuff that doesn’t always make it into a day-to-day schedule, such as deep work projects, professional development, and other things that require uninterrupted focus and flexibility.
  • Monthly phone/Wi-Fi stipend
  • Monthly wellness stipend
