Rent Responsibly is a community-building platform for a growing number of local short-term rental alliances across the US. Through remote support services, hands-on training, and centralized technology, we power local STR groups and help them work together to creatively solve communal problems, share resources, and deepen their connection with local small business communities and local governments.
The Product Manager will work closely with the Rent Responsibly co-founders to understand existing friction points, inefficiencies and identify opportunities to optimize existing software and, most importantly, integrate new software and automations. We are currently in “no code mode” but expect to build custom software and tools as needed.
The Product Manager will report to the Executive Director. This position can be full-time or part-time and will start as contract to hire will start in June.
In your first month, you will:
- Spend time learning about the co-founders’ vision for our product in 1 year, 3 years and 5 years
- Embed yourself with the Rent Responsibly team to understand first hand how we currently deliver value to our members, alliances and partners
- Develop a “map” of our current software tools with a focus on identifying areas of inefficiency or underutilization of existing tools (low hanging fruit improvements)
- Develop customer journey documentation to identify areas where we can add value, better educate our members
In your first three months, you will:
- Implement the low hanging fruit improvements and automations you identified in month one including studying the efficiencies created and KPIs
- Conduct external stakeholder interviews to understand needs and pain points
- Developed a product roadmap that will enable Rent Responsibly to deliver value to our members with an exceptional NPS score
In your six months, you will:
- Optimize all internal software tools, integrate automations that enable our software tools to work seamlessly with one another
- Begin scoping any custom integrations or custom coded tools we will need to reach our ambitious growth goals
Primary Duties:
- Own the management of Rent Responsibly’s alliance management software and all integrations, including implementation, optimization, troubleshooting, managing requests with the software provider’s support team, and coordinating with the Rent Responsibly team on user education materials
- Research, identify and implement additional software for alliance management and internal use
- Scope custom software and integrations
- Design and run beta and pilot programs
- Collaborate with the co-founders to manifest their vision through designing a product that will delight users and ultimately be used by millions of users
Secondary Duties:
- Scoping for custom product development when licensable solutions are not sufficient
- Building a product and engineering team when necessary
- Conducting user testing and focus groups when necessary

- You don’t shy away from making processes more efficient or creating new processes from scratch when needed.
- You are adept at managing your time. You can juggle projects and shuffle priorities flexibly. You versed in saying “Yes, but” or “No, but” to new requests.
- You are comfortable working with small teams that collaborate and shift often.
- You think two and three steps ahead with strategy and tact.
- If you’ve ever taken a DISC assessment, you probably score higher in S & C qualities.
Bonus Points:
- You’ve developed a mobile app
- You are proficient at basic coding
- You’ve managed CRMs and databases

Rent Responsibly is a 100% remote team regardless of Covid-19. We collaborate daily through Slack, Zoom, GSuite tools, and Airtable.
